Smart Textiles or Technical Textiles combine the advantages of traditional textile materials (light weight and comfortable wearing) with electronic components for data transmission or power supply. Applications can be found in almost every market, starting from Military over Medical to Consumer. A key element of this innovative technology is the use of conductive yarn in ribbon cables, which carry dedicated circuits for specific electronic functions. Amphenol Tuchel Electronics has been an active partner of this industry to integrate the conductive ribbon cables into various applications. Our key competence in this area is to design customized connector solutions for applications where the smart ribbon cable has to be connected and disconnected more than once. In addition to the design and manufacturing of the connector system, we are also able to assemble all kinds of smart ribbon cables provided by our customers or subcontractors.
